We recently won a highly prestigious London hotel restoration project. The work includes the restoration and remodelling of extremely ornate plaster ceilings and walls, replicating and reinstating the intricate ornate ceiling mouldings, cornicing and ornate columns and pilasters.
Hotel Russell is a luxury hotel in Russell Square – in the heart of Bloomsbury, London. The hotel has been welcoming guests since 1900 to its Art Deco reception rooms and opulent public areas, including the stunning dining areas – The Palm Court & Banqueting Hall.
In April 2016 it closed for a multi-million-pound refurbishment and will re-open in 2018 under the rebranded the Kimpton Fitzroy London. The suite and bedroom re-designs are guided by the expertise of Tara Bernard and Partners.
We are manufacturing ornate fibrous plaster mouldings and carrying out plaster restoration and reinstatement throughout the hotel. The work includes cornice work in suites and bathrooms and within the stunning Banqueting Hall (pictured). We are carrying out sensitive plaster repairs to very intricate, ornate ceilings, including re-securing existing areas.
In the stunning drinks reception area Palm Court, we have carefully taken the decorative columns down and then created rubber squeezes of them, manufactured plaster mouldings, created new columns and then reinstated. In conjunction, we are providing all the cornice work within the 340 bedrooms.
Our work is part of a collaboration with many on-site partners to restore this 1920’s opulent hotel – retaining and upholding its 5-star glamorous reputation.
Once the work has finished we will showcase the before and after images.
