At Artisan Plastercraft, we are proud of the variety we can offer our customers when they come to us for architectural column designs. Get in touch with us today via phone or email and we can start discussing your exact specifications, before you place your order.
Architectural Column Types
We are able to design, create and supply columns in a variety of types and designs, but our most popular products follow the three major classical orders of architecture. These are Doric, Ionic and Corinthian, and have been used to describe the columns and pillars of both Ancient Greece and Rome.
These originally Greek orders can make wonderfully striking features for any property, and when you choose to place your order with us, you will have the option of selecting either full or half columns for mounting flush against walls. These columns may either be rounded or square, come plain or fluted, and you will also be offered a choice of rounded or square capitals to fit.
How We Design Architectural Columns for You
Our column types are available in a number of different materials, with each being best suited to a different purpose. For example, if your needs are based in an interior and your columns or pillars are for decorative purposes, then we will mould your purchases out of the finest range of plasters we have available. If your project’s needs are external, then we can offer GRP (otherwise known as fibreglass) or Jesmonite moulding.
Via our sister manufacturing company, Design and Visual, we are also able to offer internal GRG (glass-reinforced Gypsum) columns and pillars to complete the visual image you wish to create.

What We Do
Our work is centred on the design and creation of the finest plaster columns and pillars, for restoration and conservation efforts, as well as to provide decoration and structural support for new buildings when requested. The projects we have assisted our customers on range from historical sites, to public buildings and works projects, and even private residences.
To ensure that we are restoring or helping to build these properties exactly in the way that you have imagined, we will also carefully study drawings of each to help complete our work. You will also be offered the choice of any embellishments you ask for, so the picture you have had in your mind’s eye will match the finished creation.
How We Do It
We have a team of hardworking craftsmen, model and mould makers and expert plasterers working dutifully on our site to provide you with all the classical, ornamental or practical columns and pillars you need to finish your work project. Whether you have been restoring a stately home to its former glory and need to add fluted Ionic columns to complete the majestic aesthetic, or would like a sleek, uniform set of modern round pillars to hide unsightly metal structures, our staff will make them for you.
We will also be happy to carry out a complimentary site survey for you when you contact us to undertake your work. This will be done so that we can help you to decide on the best course of action for the project you have planned. The solution we will use will be determined by what we find during the survey, and we will always follow this up with a full report afterwards. This report will also contain a quote for the work you would like carried out, as well as advice that will be useful to note in the space that you have.
Our techniques for creating our plaster architectural columns and pillars, whether they are round or square, contemporary or classical in design all come from our years of experience in working as plaster specialists. To learn more about the processes we will use to craft you any type of column you need, please get in touch with our team today.
