Stratford Place is a small road in Marylebone, London, just off Oxford Street. The area is renowned for its prominent retail outlets, fine restaurants and office spaces – many of the buildings in Stratford Place are converted residencies.
We recently completed this ceiling restoration project for one such property, which required us to provide lime plaster and fibrous plaster restoration services. The ceiling of the main staircase needed repair and replacement, and as it is a listed building, required the use of traditional materials and techniques in order to satisfy the local conservation officer.
Artisan’s skilled staff started the ceiling restoration by taking squeezes of the damaged enrichments to enable them to be re-made (cast) in new fibrous plaster. We then secured the lath and plaster ceiling structure, cut back and repaired sections that were deteriorated, and re-coated with new lime plaster. The moulded fibrous plaster enrichments and cornice were reinstated as per original, and we completed the job by decorating the dual colour ceiling to complete its transformation.
As you can see from the pictures the restored ceiling looks beautiful and having been correctly repaired will continue to impress for many years ahead.
If you are searching for a ceiling repair company to enquire about ornamental plaster ceiling restoration, we would be delighted to help you. Some further examples of our work can be found on the Projects page.
