We love a challenge at Artisan Plastercraft and were so proud to be involved in an external lime render/internal lime plaster on lathe project at St Paul’s Square, Bedford.
Standing derelict for nearly 40 years, 1-4 St Paul’s Square, Bedford was a unique project, as the properties spanned periods from medieval to mid-Victorian.
We were brought in by Bedford Borough Council, yet worked hand-in-hand with V E Parrott contractors.
A couple of major challenges related to lack of any historic drawing of the properties and the need to expose the lintels to plaster. As well as plastering right up to roof trusses, without damaging them.
“Artisan worked in close cooperation with V E Parrott (Oakley) Ltd. They provided advice and assisted in negotiation with the Conservation Officer on finishing to the Grade II listed building, St Paul’s Place, Bedford. Their expertise with lime plastering finishes was invaluable and the completed building is a testament to Artisan’s skills.” David Moore, V E Parrott Ltd
